After Year 9 pupils have reached a very important stage in their school career, when a careful choice of subjects is important. Certain subjects in the curriculum are regarded as essential. They contribute to everyday life, can be applied in many other learning situations and are a necessary base for any career. Furthermore, they are vital elements in the personal development of students in today's rapidly changing society.

In order to complete their curriculum, students will choose three subjects from those below, ensuring that their overall study contains both breadth and balance:

From these choices we construct option blocks which will accommodate the majority of our students. However, please note that we cannot guarantee that each combination chosen will be possible. In addition, no GCSE subject can normally run with less than five students.
